I have divided the history of Chesterton in to two parts. The first part covers the Roman occupation up until 1800. The second part covers the period from 1800 onwards, as well as having a brief look at child mortality in Chesterton, and the neighbouring parish of Alwalton, in the 1840's.

Some historical items have been found by looking through the internet but the booklets on the village produced by Church Wardern Jean Hillier have been of great use.

Jean's Booklets are as follows.....

Chesterton 1640 - 1803.

19th Century Chesterton

Memories Of Chesterton.

& St Michaels Church Chesterton.

All of these are very worth while having a look at.
